Are you ready to host your first virtual summit? First thing you have to do is get real, be authentic, and stop trying to sell everyone... There is a reason that when the tribe really gets the flow of the energy going that a Summit creates superstars. Virtual Summits or Virtual Conferences have long been a popular choice for online marketers. Just last month we held our Pajama Regional online. But if you’re wondering why everyone is suddenly hosting (or participating in) virtual summits, here’s what you need to know.

They make money. Even a free summit has the power to add to your bottom line through “back end” sales. The ability to market to new subscribers again and again means you’ll continue to make money from your summit long after it’s finished.

Audiences love them. With the option to tune in and learn from a wide variety of speakers, it’s no wonder people are quick to register for virtual summits. Even better, if your guests generously offer free gifts to attendees, they’ll find even more value in your summit.

They grow your list. Yes, your virtual event will likely be free, but like any good giveaway, an email address is required for participation. Because you’re hosting a multi-person event, though, you’ll be in front of many more eyes than normal, which has the power to add hundreds or even thousands of new names to your mailing list.

They make you an expert. Even if you’re relatively new to your niche, simply by surrounding yourself with experts you’ll gain instant expert status. You can leverage your new status to gain interviews, speaking engagements and more.

They create long-lasting connections. While you might not have a lot of connections now, the guests you invite to participate in your summit will likely become long-term partners and friends. You’ll be able to reach out again and again with new product launches, JV opportunities, and other business building fun.

They offer an opportunity to give back. Got a charity or cause that’s close to your heart? Consider donating the proceeds from your event. It’s a great way to help others while growing your own business.

These are just a few of the many benefits of hosting a virtual summit. They really are the best way to grow your business for free, and while they can be a lot of work to plan and execute, they’re definitely worth the trouble.

What the Heck is a Funnel, Anyway?

At its most basic, a sales funnel that helps you guide potential clients from getting to know you, to wanting to work with you. Your sales funnel consists of free content, which typically requires nothing of your readers. Many sales funnels begin with blog posts, YouTube videos, Facebook content, and other information readers can access at no cost. This is the “top” of your funnel.

Next, you’ll have an attractive offer that requires a very small “payment” of sorts - typically an email address. You’ve seen this type of offer on websites all over the internet, and probably even signed up for some. This is the free e-book or guide, video series, checklist, workbook, or other valuable content that is available in exchange for “opting in” to an email list.

Once on your mailing list, you’ll then present your readers with a series of low-cost offers. Perhaps you have a low-priced e-book or a trial membership.

Customers who purchase your low-priced product move further down the funnel, and are presented with more, higher priced products. As they continue to buy, they move closer and closer to your top-end offers, which make up the bottom of your funnel.

How Your Funnel Works

If you imagine your funnel as looking like, well, a funnel, it’s easy to see that your free content—at the top—is consumed by the largest number of readers. Below that, your extreme low-cost item (available only for the cost of an email address) attracts a smaller subset of the true freebie seekers. Next, your low-priced products bring in yet a smaller group.

Finally, as you near the tip of the funnel, only the loyalest of fans and customers will purchase your highest priced offers.

Your job, as the business owner, is to ensure that your funnel leads buyers naturally from the top, free offers all the way to the bottom. The more buyers you can keep in your funnel, the more money you will make.

Most new—and even established—business owners can easily envision the top of the funnel, but if you truly want your business to grow, you must master the entire process, and that starts with understanding what a funnel really is and how it works. Let me help you build your list, create that funnel and get to work on that soul purpose. Maybe you want to create a viral buzz before launching on Kindle, or maybe you are finally ready to go beyond the daily seek out and hound your friends sales plan and move beyond client capture to really do this thing.

Are you tired of trying to do everything yourself? Is everything eating away at the time you would rather spend BEING a coach? Does the lack of support running your business alone drive you MAD? Are you 100x better at coaching than all the back-end work? Why did you get into health coaching in the first place? I am willing to bet it was partly because you wanted to help people find fantastic health, and partly because you are so passionate about something that changed your life.
